John Traynor is a traditional American impressionist whose painting style is reminiscent of 19th and early 20th century New Hope and the New England Old Lyme Impressionist paintings. His use of light and color craft a mood in each of his paintings, creating atmosphere, an important element for John. Using soft and hard edges selectively he gives a feeling that there is air filled with moisture surrounding each of the objects in his paintings. John is a graduate of Paier College of Art and has studied with prominent American and Italian artists. He is the recipient of over 200 hundred awards of merit and has achieved the title of Copley Master from the Copley Society of Boston. While many of his paintings are of rural New England scenes, his travels have produced many paintings of Ireland and Italy. John is equally well-known for still lifes and portraits in addition to his landscapes. They evoke a feeling of warmth and tradition.
